I don’t think this is going to be a long entry but just wanted to put this out here. First, I wanna say: Darien, if you’re reading this, you may be a bit surprised about what I write here. I don’t think I’ve gone into that much detail with you about this but really, it’s not a big deal. I’m definitely trying to let it roll off my shoulders…..
In the last few months, I’ve received some ‘hate’ notes and other miscellaneous msgs on facebook pertaining my involvement on Darien’s team. People say anything from “You must think you’re hot shit” or something innocent like someone thinking that I’m Darien’s manager, making inquires about bookings etc. Even when word spread like wild fire that Foreign Exchange was coming here, I was getting msgs left, right and center asking general things like where do we find tickets and some even went as far as asking me if I could get them in for free! I was even getting message from folks asking if they could specifically meet Darien or have me introduce them to him. I was floored! I had really no direct involvement in putting on the show nor did I have power over tickets etc. All that happened was Aimee put me as an admin for the FB invite for the show to help spread the word. For the people that wanted to meet D, I just told them that everyone comes out after the show to meet and greet the crowd so there was no need for introductions.
Anyway, there was one incident I had trouble letting go and this happened the night Foreign Exchange was here. After the show, I was walking around alone and was stopped by a few people: a couple and another girl. The guy spoke up and asked if I was Lady Vee, saying that I sent notice out to the group before the shows for people to say hi if they see me or Darien. He said both he and his girl were members. I smiled, shook their hands and asked how they enjoyed the show etc. Meanwhile, the other girl just stood there silent.
When we were finished talking, I was waiting to speak to Phonte and over heard the 2 girls talking behind me:
Girl 1: Who was that?
Girl 2: Oh, you know that guy, the singer, Darien? She runs his FB group with him and stuff but I really think she’s nothing but a GLORIFIED GROUPIE cuz if you look at her profile, you’ll see she’s got all kinds of pics and shit with them
Girl 1: *laughs* Really?
Now you can only imagine how I felt when I heard this. In my head, I was fighting with myself thinking, “Should I say something? Should I not?” but I didn’t. It did bother me for a bit though. I suppose because it was the first time that something like that happened in person. I was on Twitter, blasting off about it, not in details just saying stuff about haters etc and Zo happened to catch it. Eventually, we got on AIM and chatted about what happened. He was surprised about what I told him and just told me that it was “crumbs on the table, just brush them off.” Zo also said that it seemed to him that people were talking about me and with what I’m trying to do, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I agreed and eventually, the situation didn’t bother me as much.
I’m glad I didn’t say anything, didn’t look through all the members of the group to see if I could recognize her. It’s not worth it, sooo not worth it. Haters don’t know shit about me so I don’t give a shit about haters!! I’ll only get stronger…that’s what I have to keep thinking.

You just gotta shake em off, Vee. One thing I learned is that if you have haters, it's a sign that you're doing something right.

your sis (biggest fan)
Use the haters for motivation. There's nothing like success! Keep that beautiful smile on your face and your head up high: that's sexy when it comes to an independent woman that is about the business. You have a beautiful spirit, and that's what I love about you. Continue to go hard on what you love and everything else will be in your favor. Thank God for the haters..like you said Lady Vee they only make you stronger.

You handled that well, but that's some dumb shit though, I guess some folks just don't believe there's such thing as pure heartedness & good intentions & motives for doin things........
