(side note: This review is quite late. I started it just before I was hit with writer’s block last year. Instead of purging it, I decided to finish it off and post it.)
I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive before I heard this album. I was a big fan of Floetry so when Marsha Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart aka The Floacist went their separate ways, I was sad. Since they broke up, Marsha had released some great music but you hardly ever heard anything from The Floacist…or at least I hadn’t anyway. Until now…
Floetic Soul was released in November 2010. My first taste from this album came from SoulTracks.com when they gave away a free download of the song, Forever which featured Musiq Soulchild. The download was so popular that it set a record on SoulTracks!
I enjoyed this album! The mood is very smooth and sexy at times with a few mid-tempo tracks. She still has that Floetry vibe that folks have come to love. There are only 3 features on Floetic Soul: Musiq as I mentioned earlier, Raheem Devaughn and Lalah Hathaway. To preview/purchase Floetic Soul, click on the cover art above!
Lady’s Fave Tracks:
Breathe – A great way to start the album. I found a sense of encouragement in this track. Lyrically well done. To me, it reminds you of what’s more important than what you may be stressing out over at any given time.
Forever Featuring Musiq Soulchild – Available as a free download here, this song was a great way to give listeners a first glimpse of this album. It has The Floacist with her low and soothing voice professing lyrics of love and Musiq blessing the song with vocals that would make any lady wish that a man would sing like that to them. It is truly a gem and the video is great too!
Come Over Featuring Lalah Hathaway – Point blank: this is a sexy song...from everything to the production, lyrics and Lalah’s sultry voice singing, “Why don’t you come over?” This joint is definitely a wonderful addition to any slow and sexy playlist….I know it’s made my list ;-)
Recently, a video was released for Let Me. A very sexy visual for a sexy song! I also heard the leading man is also her husband. A warning for you…this video has been deemed NSFW! Enjoy!
