All who know me know that I’m an advocate of good music especially independent artists. I also love to spread the word about folks that I feel should be heard…I created this feature, Ear Candy, to do just that!
A while back, one of my Facebook friends posted a video of Bahamadia stating something to the fact that she needs to come back because all the current female MCs suck. I beg to differ….Let me introduce you to Rapsody….
Hailing from Snow Hill, North Carolina, Rapsody aka Rapdiddy was the first artist signed to Grammy award winning producer, 9th Wonder’s It’s A Wonderful World Music Group/JAMLA. Watch this video below to see her story:
(Friendly Reminder: Don't forget to pause on the mp3 player on the top right before pressing play!)
I first came to know this lady in March when I went on a short trip to North Carolina to visit friends who are really family to me. 9th Wonder happened to be holding his first of many artist showcases at this place called The Brewery while I was in town so I went with a friend to see 9th and hang with the homies for a bit. At one point, I was sitting in the back of the place, giving my feet a rest when I heard Rapsody being introduced on stage. As soon as the beat dropped and I heard her, I jumped up and moved to the stage to watch her. Her presence and energy in her delivery is undeniable. Rapsody held her own in a performance line up full of men that night and I was thoroughly impressed. Since then, I’ve gotten to know Rap a bit better and noticed her dedication to her craft and her musical family. I truly believe Rapsody is a force to be reckoned with and I really look forward to seeing become the superstar I think she can be!
She has released a video for her track “Every” and not long ago she dropped “Honda Accord Music” which is on 9th Wonder’s newest release: 9th’s Opus–It’s A Wonderful World Music Group Volume 1.

Rapsody is also set to release her mixtape Return of the B-Girl in December 7, 2010. You best believe that when it’s available, I will be posting it here! In the meantime, you can get music from Rapsody at http://www.rapsody.bandcamp.com for FREE!! You can also pick up 9th’s Opus – It’s A Wonderful World Music Group Volume 1 from iTunes by going here.

YOU SAID IT!!! RAP is the TRUTH!!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember finding Rapsody on MySpace (!) back in 2007, even before I knew she was affiliated with 9th Wonder. I thought she was awesome then, and she's only gotten better.
